Long before Ted Turner abandoned Atlanta and came to this western wilderness, Montana has been famous for homespun tales, ranching, great beef and of course mountains. Ted's ranches are aimed at saving the pristine environment of Montana, which is funny, because if you've ever been there, that's about all there is, unspoiled wilderness. If you ask me the place needs a few skyscrapers, oil refineries and slag heaps. But, instead of slag heaps, they got Ted Turner and his tree hugging crowd of reformed hippies who think that since they've got theirs, nobody else on the planet should be allowed to chop down a tree, damn a river or burn a fossilized dinosaur. Speaking of dinosaurs, some really great fossils have been found in Montana, even a fully intact T-Rex. T-Rex means 'tyrant lizard', which has nothing to do with Jim Morrison, but many people think lizard and they flash on Diamond Jim's snake skin pants undulating on the stage in a drug addled haze.
