City of Woodbury

History- Woodbury's Township was organized in 1858 and was then called Red Rock Township by the settlers who came to the area in 1840. It was renamed in 1859, in honor of Judge Levi Woodbury of New Hampshire who actually never set foot in the city. The city of Woodbury was incorporated as a village in 1967.

Today, Woodbury has many beautiful residential neighborhoods and a thriving business community and has enjoyed a population explosion in the last ten years to more than 50,000 residents. Woodbury's commercial development has helped create a strong community with high quality of life, making Woodbury a great place to live. Shopping- Woodbury has two popular shopping area, the Horizon Outlet Center which is located on I-94 in Woodbury and the Woodbury Village.

Recreation- Woodbury has plenty of recreational activities. Woodbury park system features 2,000 acres of dedicated park land, 38 community and neighborhood parks, and a swimming beach. The Bielenberg Sports Center has two indoor ice arenas and a field house for running and walking. The outdoors facilities include 14 athletic fields, picnic areas and playground equipment. Carver Lake, Ojibay, and Tamarak Nature Preserve in Woodbury have more then 120 acres of parkland connected by paved trails allowing a perfect setting for biking and walking. Woodbury's golf course is located east on Woodbury drive. Eagle Valley Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 course laid out on 225 acres.
