Location- Shorewood is a 30 minute drive from downtown Minneapolis, located in Hennepin County on the south shore of Lake Minnetonka. Shorewood has 3,600 acres and is 6 miles long and 1 mile wide along State Highway 7 which runs east and west through the city. There are three islands: Enchanted, Shady and Spray that are included as part of Shorewood’s boundaries, but receive postal service, fire protection and educational services through the city of Mound.

History- Shorewood had once been part of Excelsior Township, was organized as a Village in 1956 and became a statutory city in 1974.
Shopping- The residents of Shorewood use Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka for their shopping needs.
Recreation-
Shorewood
offers a total of six parks totaling approximately 100 acres. They offer
picnic areas, playground equipment, tennis courts, ball fields, a basketball
court, a volleyball court, a skate park, walking trails and ice skating
rinks. The
Southwest LRT Trail is an abandon railroad bed throughout the southwestern
metro suburbs. The north corridor begins in Hopkins and extends west
for 15.5 miles through Minnetonka, Deephaven, Greenwood, Excelsior and
Shorewood, ending in downtown Victoria. This trail is great for biking,
hiking, walking, or running. Horses are permitted on the Shorewood portion
of the trail during winter months only. Dogs are also allowed on the
trail only if they are on a leash (6 feet or less).
