Location- Mound is located 30 minutes southwest of downtown Minneapolis, which is approximately 35 minutes from the airport and the Mall of America. Mound is a small town on the west end of Lake Minnetonka in Hennepin County. It’s a place where “community and family” come first with all the simplicity of living in the country along with all the fun of living on a lake the size of Lake Minnetonka. Mound is not very far off from the major highways, making it convenient for shopping and dining out at restaurants.

History- Mound was named for the Indian burial mounds once found within its boundaries. Mound is almost entirely developed for residential use.
Shopping- Mound offers a small town feel to it’s main street shopping.
Recreation- Mound has 27 public parks scattered throughout the city with organized sports facilities as well as many recreational facilities such as trails (the Luce Line) and picnic areas. Mound has over 17 miles of lakeshore and 11 of those miles on Lake Minnetonka, which offers a number of excellent recreational and cultural facilities convenient to Mound. The regional parks and park reserves offer visitors a wide variety of activities ranging from team sports to nature interpretation. The Luce Line Nature Trail is 64 miles of converted rail corridor, extending from Plymouth to Cosmos. The Old Log Theater and Lake Minnetonka Art Center are excellent cultural attractions, both within 15 minutes of Mound. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is nationally respected for its wonderful gardens and research and development of cold climate plant species.
