History- Minneapolis was founded by Col. John H. Stevens, builder of the first house on the west side of the Mississippi river in 1850. Minneapolis was organized as a township in 1858 and was transformed into a village organization in 1886 with Golden Valley and St. Louis Park. The city of Minneapolis was incorporated in 1866 and the first election of officers was in 1867. The cities present boundaries were established in 1927.

The convenient skyway connects to the Gaviidae Common and the IDS Center's Crystal Court, City Center and along the way all the endless stores.

Hennepin Avenue's newest addition is Block E. Block E is your Minneapolis newest entertainment area. If your looking to see a movie, the new Crown Theaters consists of 15 screen theaters in digital sound and stadium seating. GameWorks is a high-tech arcade featuring your latest arcade games as well as a bowling alley, restaurant and bar. Next to GameWorks is the new Borders Books and Music, where you can find all types of books and music. On the other end of the block E across from the Target Center, you will find the Hard Rock Café, an upbeat restaurant where you can eat outside and enjoy Minneapolis at its fullest. Across the street from the Hard Rock Café is First Avenue. If you enjoy dancing all night long First Avenue is the place.
