Eagan, Minnesota
City of Eagan

History- Eagan was originally called Montgomery, was incorporated on October 19, 1972, absorbing Eagan Township. Eagan's township was established by legislative act in 1861 and was named after Patrick Eagan who was one of the first settlers in 1853. In Eagan's early days, a tree known as the Lone Oak Tree served as a communication center for the city having public notices and announcements posted on it. The Lone Oak Tree was designated as a Minnesota Heritage Tree, and commemorative oaks have been planted throughout Eagan to honor the tree.
