History- Burnsville used to be a rural, primarily Irish farming community. It has since grown rapidly from 2,700 people in 1960 to 60,220 people today, making it the tenth largest city in the state.

Shopping- Burnsville is home to Burnsville Center which is a 1.2 million square foot shopping mall located at the intersection of I-35W and County Road 42. The mall is anchored by department stores of Marshall Field’s, Sears, J.C. Penney’s and Mervyns, along with 160 specialty shops.

Recreation- Burnsville offers more than 3,300-acres of parks, wildlife refuge lands, a variety of recreational opportunities including Buck Hill Ski and Snowboard Area, many fine lodging and dining facilities. Burnsville is fifteen minutes or less from the Minnesota Zoo, Valleyfair Amusement Park, Mystic Lake Casino, the Renaissance Festival, and the Mall of America.
