Location-
Dinkytown
is home to the University of Minnesota and a neighborhood
inside the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. Dinkytown
is located at the north edge of campus between southeast
8th Street and University Avenue and stretches
from 10th Avenue to 17th Avenue southeast
and on the eastern side of the Mississippi.

History-
Dinkytown got it’s name from the small steam locomotives, called
“Dinkys,” which worked in the nearby rail yards at the turn of
the century.

Dinkytown offers many small shops including unique books stores,
music shops and quaint eateries.
Recreation-
The
Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board operates 49 year-round,
neighborhood-based Recreation Centers. The Weisman is thought
of as the “MinneaGuggenheim.” The building is a work of art in
itself, both eye-catching and whimsical on the outside, but cozy
on the inside. This art museum is located on the University of
Minnesota Campus. This small gallery houses a permanent collection
of the most distinctive buildings in Minnesota. Bon
Apetit is a place for the under 21 crowd to go where they can
enjoy local bands along with nutritious meals served at sit down
tables for a reasonable cover. Bon Apetit is located next to Al’s
Breakfast on 14th street.
