The City of Shakopee’s Comprehensive Plan identifies its future development goals and objectives. The last update of the Comprehensive Plan that received Metropolitan Council acceptance was completed in 1999, and it looked ahead to the year 2020. The plan is currently being updated to ensure that it continues to meet the City’s needs in guiding growth and development through the year 2030 and that it meets the requirements of the state’s Metropolitan Land Planning Act.

In 2006, Shakopee began this update of the Comprehensive Plan. As update work progresses, the City will verify that the plan remains relevant and reflective of Shakopee’s vision by taking into account developments and/or changes in the community that require adjustments.

The list below outlines the Comprehensive Plan Update topic areas. Once the update team for a specific topic area begins work, a link to more information (meeting dates, agendas, meeting minutes, etc.) on that topic will be available.
